DEVON BONELLI
Composer and Producer

BIOGRAPHY
I am a freelance composer and Ph.D. candidate at the Royal Northern College of Music based in Manchester, U.K. I mix a variety of styles and media in my compositions, bringing a mixture of contemporary classical music with jazz, pop, and rock. As a conductor, I specialise in new music and early repertoire.
CONDUCTING
I've been working as a freelance conductor for several years, focusing on a large range of repertoire: from Mozart to John Adams. I've taken advantage of some amazing opportunities, and have been apart of Masterclasses hosted by Royal Northern College of Music and The University of Nottingham. I conducted the University of Nottingham's Opera Project from 2017-2019- an ensemble focused on bringing new light to well-known repertoire. If you wish to get in contact about freelance work, please use the link at the bottom to send an email to me.

ORCHESTRAL COMPOSITION
As an orchestral composer, I have worked on a wide range of repertoire for mixed groups. My piece, Raindance, was performed by the Royal Northern College of Music's Brand New Orchestra. A setting of the Magnificat was workshopped by the BBC Singers in 2020. The Mass of the Nightingales was premiered by the University of Nottingham's New Music Ensemble in 2019. To learn more about my portfolio, have a look through my Soundcloud links.
FILM COMPOSITION
I've scored the music for Dziga Vertov's Man with a Movie Camera, where the premiere of my score was given at The University of Nottingham. Film composition is an excellent field where I've been able to mix many disciplines within my field. If you have any questions or would like to work together, please get in touch!

HIGHLIGHTED WORKS
DISCOPIA
Discopia is an upcoming collaboration between Excessive Human Collective, the Larisa Trio, and myself. As a piece for piano trio, electronics, and dancers, it looks into environmental catastrophe and human connection. It has been proudly supported by a PRS Fund Grant and an Arts Council UK Grant for touring in 2023.

QUEEN MIDAS
A retelling of the story of Midas, this opera for solo soprano and electronics maps the tale's fear of touch to the AIDS crisis. It has been proudly supported by a grant from Arts Council UK for a performance at The White Hotel in Manchester, 28 May 2023.
MAGNIFICAT
AND
NUNC DIMITTIS
My setting of the Magnificat was workshopped by the BBC Singers in March of 2020. This setting focuses on the sombre aspects of Mary's life leading to the birth of Christ. It reflects on the pain and suffering that all mothers endure for their children.
